How to Travel on the Cheap
This travel tip has saved my friends thousands of dollars over the years.

I have three different friends. I mean, I have a lot more than three friends, but I have three different friends who have learned to very effectively travel on the cheap in terms of renting a house, renting a condo, whatever.
They wait till the last minute to book it. Now you’re listening and saying, “I can’t take that risk. What if nothing comes due?” It always opens up. They go to some of the overbuilt areas where there’s just too much supply for demand, even at most peak times but certainly just after or just before the peak times. The discounts they’re getting are insane.
One of my female friends went down to Kissimmee, Florida and got 60 something percent off her rental unit. And it was one week removed from March break. Are you kidding me? And by the way, there was a ton of them open. It’s not like she got the only one left and the person was desperate for revenue. Yeah.
The person was desperate for revenue because there were so many left. She had leverage in the negotiations. I’m telling another colleague of mine that, and he says, we do the same thing all the time with higher-end places in Arizona. There’s too many of them. Before we go down, we don’t book anything. We wait till the last minute, three, four, five, six, seven days in advance.
We book. We get 70 to 75 percent off the listed price in most cases. I’m telling you, I’ve asked all three of these people, “How many times have you done it?” In total, they’re up to 30 to 40 times. They’ve never once had an issue and the lowest discount they tell me they’ve ever got—40%. This is worthwhile thinking through.
It really is.
